Academy (Beginning Years) – Ages 9 – 13
In this division, students begin to learn the methodology of Vaganova (Russian) ballet technique. The material taught in this division is taken from the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years of the Vaganova syllabus. Female students at this division will begin with pre-pointe work and progress to en pointe before advancement to subsequent levels. Male students in this level are eligible to participate in men’s classes in addition to their regular curriculum.
Academy students are required to attend a minimum number of technique classes per week depending on their level as well as classes in character and contemporary dance. Lyrical, jazz, tap, and turns & technique classes are offered to these students.
